| Hello! My name is Ekaterina, or Kate. I'm 24 years old. I was born in Russia. I graduated from The State University in 2011. I was studying foreign languages - English and some French. So, I am a teacher. Due to my profession I had a lot of experience with kids. I was working as the summer camp leader with kids from 7 to 15 years old. I was responsible for planning and coordination of weekly schedule. I had to wake the kids up in the morning, help them to get dressed, be sure they brushed their teeth and hair, and made their bed. After that we went outside for morning exercises, then we had breakfast. After breakfast the kids had some physical activities, such as basketball, soccer, hiking, and swimming in the sea. After lunch we had a couple hours of quiet time. Some kids could take a nap, some preferred to draw or to read. Each week we had different contests (e.g. sport, theater, music, talent show) which were held during the afternoon. After dinner we put younger kids to bed and the elder ones had a dancing, or camp stories hour. After that I had to make sure that everybody was in bed. Then I had to prepare all necessary staff for the next day. Some days I had to stay overnight. I was also responsible for the general safety of my group. I think that the kids of 6-10 years old need firm and consistent rules that are explained clearly. But they also should have enough independence to learn from their successes and failures.
I was also working in the Children Arts School for a year (I was teaching toddlers and children foreign language, drawing, dancing, etc.). I was also working as a teacher and a mentor in the technical college. So, I spent a lot of time with children of different age groups. But most of my experience I got babysitting my brother and my cousin. I have a younger brother Ilia. He is 7 years younger than me (He is 17 now). I also have a cousin Ivan who is 4 years younger. We grew up all together. And most of the time I was in charge for both of them while our parents were at work. So, it's not a problem for me to find something to do with the kids either indoor, or outdoors. I'm always open to new things to do.
I like listening to the music and drawing. Also I took part in theater performances at school and university. I like sport. I can play volleyball and basketball well, I also like swimming and skiing. I'm fond of cooking! I'm also a good driver. I am broad-minded, intelligent and positive. And I am capable of making good decisions. Optimism and hard work determine my life style. I also enjoy reading books, learning languages, traveling and outdoors activities. I like to live full life and feel uncomfortable doing nothing. And I also have a good sense of humor and like to laugh a lot:) I am respectful and organized, always on time, easy to approach and agreeable. I respect time and private space of the family and try to maintain friendly relation with all family members. And I like to discuss all issues in a friendly way before they turn into problems. I am responsible and mature. As a nanny I am strict, but fair and loving. I always try to establish that kind of a distance between me and kids that includes just right amount of respect and love. I try to be someone kids trust and rely on, someone, who sets a good example. And someone whose word matters. It takes time for both sides to start really loving each other, but I succeeded in it with all kids I've ever worked with. I do have a big heart and it's impossible to hide:) I like to keep kids busy with educational activities. Self-improvement is important to me and I also try to develop in kids the desire to learn something new every day. I am not that kind of a nanny who does all the work that the kids should do themselves. I am a teacher who helps them to learn to do everything they need according to their age. And of course I keep in mind parents' style of raising kids and try not to contradict it, but to work as a team with the parents.
Currently, I'm an AU PAIR in USA. I was working for the Brachfeld Family. They can provide me with references if needed. I was caring for the twins(boy & girl) since they were 9 months old. My duties also included doing babies' laundry, some cooking, & other light housework. I used to have an unlimited access to the car and I could go anywhere I want in my free time or take the kids to different activities or playgrounds. I have a clear valid USA driving license since May, 2013. And I was driving in my home country since I'm 18, both manual and automatic.
